Erika Halweil

Erika was first exposed to the practices of yoga in 1993, although, it wasn’t until 1996 that she truly focused her attention on the endless journey into the present moment. Recognizing the importance of a playful spirit and limitless curiosity, Erika tries to challenge herself, and others, through a unique vinyasa practice (inspired by the many traditions to which she has been exposed).

Currently, her body, heart, mind and breath have been captivated by the extraordinarily cleansing and clarifying practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Through this system, she hopes to encourage everyone to commit to making their yoga practice an integral, and lasting, part of their daily life. She has furthered her knowledge of the human body through the study of nutrition (with a degree from NYU), anatomy and physiology and reflexology.

She is wholeheartedly grateful for all of her teachers; to Manorama D'Alvia for helping her to find her inner bhakti; to Corey De Rosa and Stacey Platt for sharing their dedication and passion for tradition and practice; to William Prottengeier for his passionate precision. She is also indebted to the many people who have shared their practice with her, as she honors that each student is her guru.
